Lara fire
A man was injured in a house fire at Lara yesterday.
Flames had engulfed the weatherboard home when fire crews arrive 6am, with the man later reported to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Corio’s defaulters
Corio is Victorian’s worst suburb for missing housing loan repayments, according to new research.
Fitch Ratings’ latest Australian Mortgage Delinquency by Postcode report ranked Corio fourth worst nationally after Budgewoi, in New South Wales, and Queensland’s Kingston and Petrie.

Cotton cash
One of Geelong’s biggest private companies used a $3.4 million grant from a government fund to expand its North Geelong headquarters, according to Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson.
The Cotton On expansion, worth a total $8.5 million, helped accommodate 211 new jobs including 100 extra staff working for its global fashion brand, Factorie.

Pocket psychologist
A psychologist that fits in pockets is the Geelong’s latest contribution to smartphone technology, Deakin University has announced.
Deakin said its School of Psychology experts had developed an app with a library of videos providing tips to manage social anxiety, depression and “body dissatisfaction”.

Park upgrade
Geelong’s Austin Park will become a “colourful outdoor space” after the completion of a landscaping refurbishment, City Hall has announced.
The revitalised park, adjacent to Geelong’s waterfront, would feature a range of landscaping treatments including plants chosen for natural tolerance to coastal winds, the City said.

Cabbie dies
A CORIO woman has died almost a month after suffering injuries in a car crash. Police confirmed that the 63-year-old taxi driver died in hospital on Saturday.
The fatality followed a two-car collision at the intersection of Latrobe Tce and McKillop St on 24 July.
