AFTER all the State Government fanfare heralding its brand new $20 million brand, the old logo is still in use.
A media release from the three Geelong state Labor MPs this week proudly bore the old logo with its Southern Cross motif.
Maybe the Government’s printing office is using up old supplies to save a few bucks, although this media release was emailed, so that excuse doesn’t quite hold water.

And the Government must have been rapt to see Geelong’s council showing some rare unity this week.
After all, the council has been under plenty of fire recently for perceived disunity, which can be also described as disagreement.
But at least this week all hands around the council table raised in agreement on a motion put to the vote – to deny the Government’s demand to hand over $1.5 million a year for its new trust to run Simonds Stadium.
Yay for unity!

And wasn’t it nice to see Jeff Kennett’s head – and mouth – emerge yet again with a belting for Geelong’s democratically elected council.
Sack them, he thundered this week, for all this inconvenient disagreement.
Apparently in Jeff’s world everyone agrees with everyone else and falls in line with the dominant faction. Except when it’s not the right faction, of course – that’s a sacking offence!
Maybe Jeff should just wait 15 months to let ratepayers decide. The democratic process of municipal elections could effectively sack the councillors for him.
Just like Victorian voters did to Jeff in 1999.

A groodle pup out for an early morning run with his master and a Labrador mate had the shock of his young life.
While galloping across Myers Reserve the golden youngster propped up on a fence for a better look at the cows in the paddock beyond.
Some high-pierced yelps later indicated that the pup had pawed the electric fence. Minutes later the procedure was repeated. Then the young dishlicker dashed back to his boss as the obedient black lab looked on knowingly.
