Gateway hosts Corio country

By PAUL MILLAR

LOCALS will get a chance to feast on A Taste of Tamworth on Saturday when a triple-treat of award-winners taking to the stage at Corio’s Gateway Hotel.
The show will be a splash of the old and new as Golden Guitar winning act Carter and Carter performs songs from its latest album with old favourites thrown in to get the audience involved.
Jetty Road, one of Australia’s most successful country music trios with 10 number-ones, and Roo Arcus, a farm boy whose songs resonate with authenticity, will also appear in the Geelong show.
Dave Carter said each act did its own thing in the show but they all came together at the end, pooling resources and talent.
“It’s always good to return to Geelong as the crowd is always receptive,” he said.
“A lot of the night involves songs from our new albums and then we perform songs that everybody will know and can sing along with.”
Carter and wife Merelyn, described as Australian independent country music artists of the decade, will perform songs from their latest album, Wonderful World. The couple released the album, featuring hit single To The Moon And Back, to a full house at the Tamworth Music Festival and their hit single To The Moon And Back.
Jetty Road has a changed line-up and a new album full of musical diversity. The album, Hearts On Fire, has been described as an evolution for the band and its distinctive sound.
After travelling half way across the globe to Canada to record with producer Paul Shatto, of Far Away Places fame, the new album reflects the band’s journey over the past few years.
Roo Arcus released his third studio album, Cowboys and Sunsets, in a whirlwind of sold out launches, ARIA chart success, award honours and sold out gigs.
