Hamlyn Heights’ Adam Ludlow was recently joking with girlfriend Olivia Sells about entering a competition to find Australia’s “hottest tradie”.
Now the demolition worker is vying with entrants from around Australia for the title and its prize of a Hilux ute after Olivia secretly entered him in the competition, “preschool photo and all”.
“I’m totally embarrassed,” Adam said.
“My mates having being giving me crap but, quietly, I’m happy to be in the running.”
Olivia described her 19-year-old beau as “hard working, down to Earth” and in desperate need of a car.
“Good things come to those who wait. Maybe its Adam’s turn,” she said.
Hottest Tradie 2011 spokesperson Lija Jarvis said more than 570 tradesmen had entered the RSVP-run competition.
“We always see some great entries from Victoria and Tasmania and this year we’re particularly impressed,” Ms Jarvis said.
“Tradies aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty but they take care of themselves and, importantly, get involved in the world around them – they aren’t shy to lend a hand and help out their mates.
“This is very Australian and very hot.”
