MORE than 20 businesses have been nominated in the region’s newest business awards.
The awards will recognise top operators in the Lara district.
Lara District Community Bank and the town’s chamber of Commerce opened nominations in early June and the response has been great.
Chamber vice-president Natalie Candy said Lara District Business Awards would recognise businesses playing “an important role in the local community”.
“These awards are not like any other businesses awards – there are no written submissions and no costs to enter,” Ms Candy said.
“We’re excited to recognise the work being done in the community.”
Ms Candy said winners would be announced at a presentation event in August as Victoria conducted its annual Small Business Festival
“Prizes include media exposure and substantial funds contributed to the local community group of choice.”
The Geelong Independent is sponsoring the Lara District Business Awards.
Managing editor Tony Galpin said the Independent was rapt to participate.
“I commend the chamber and community bank on establishing such an accessible awards program,” Mr Galpin said.
“I’m sure local businesses will appreciate the absence of entry fees and time-consuming submission forms. The emphasis on community involvement is also a welcome point of difference.”
Ms Candy said more information about the awards was available from the bank’s branch manager, Damien Foster, phone 5282 6430 or email mail@LDCE.com.au.
