Good sports to join cancer fight

THE LEGEND of EJ Whitten lives on through the foundation that carries his name and its annual Geelong sportsman’s dinner.
The larger-than-life Billy Brownless and Coodabeen Champion Ian Cover will host this year’s Rivalry Round Sportsman’s Dinner.
Ted Whitten Jnr said the dinner was a vital part of the foundation’s fundraising activities.
“Since its inception in 1995 the EJ Whitten Foundation has raised more than $8.5 million for prostate cancer research and awareness,” he said.
“More importantly, it has made many thousands of Australian men more aware of prostate cancer and potentially helped save many lives.”
The dinner, also presented by AFL Barwon, features gourmet food, fine wines and ales, and a wide range of fun and entertainment.
Special guests at this year’s dinner will include “secretly hilarious“ former Australian test cricketer Wayne Phillips, Geelong Cats players and a comedian.
