Cat Rhys Stanley to see specialist

Geelong medical staff are still unsure about the extent of the foot injury to Rhys Stanley.
Physio Mark Young told the Cats website the athletic big man suffered a torsion injury in his mid-foot in the game against Port Adelaide.
“Scans have shown some damage to the ligament and the bone. We are seeing a specialist this week and we’ll have a better prognosis from that,” Young said.
Fellow ruckman/forward Mitch Clark has also been ruled out for the game against Melbourne with his ongoing calf injury.
“We’re just putting some load through that calf at the moment and he’s someone we’ll consider after the break,” Young said.
Better big man news came with ruckman Dawson Simpson facing a fitness test for selection this week after suffering a shoulder injury.
“He’s been training well, he’s seeing lots of contact in training, and we’re confident in the way he’s been progressing. He’ll be a test for this weekend.”
Swingman Jimmy Bartel is back running and moving well after his knee strain in round three and would be considered after the Cats’ bye round.
Young said the high ankle sprain suffered by defender James Kelly against Port Adelaide was a “short to medium term prospect”.
“It’s tricky to get a read on early on, so we don’t have a clear prognosis yet,” he said.
