Double Take: Something fishy going on ….

ALARMING to read Bloviation tweet this week protesting the depredations of the floating fish factory sadly named Geelong Star.
“Massive o’seas commercial fishing trawler designed to rape our fish stocks is now killing our dolphins and seals,” it railed.
Double Take knew of the killings but raping fish?
Now that’s getting right out of control.

PENSIONER Ken Oakden is a bit put out – Alcoa rejected his bid to solve global warming at its Anglesea power plant.
The job would have required a sale or two-year loan of the power station to Geelong West’s Mr Oakden so he could prove his ground-breaking theory works.
“I can install equipment which will enable the chimney stack efflux to consist of only CO2, which local trees and grass will photosynthesise,” he claims.
“The trees will retain the carbon and release the oxygen into the atmosphere.”
If Alcoa won’t come at it, surely the Surf Coast Air Action mob will.

MEANWHILE, just up the road, the start of Australia’s most iconic coastal drive is set to be crowned with discount groceries.
German chain ALDI announced this week it had lodged a development application for Torquqay, nominating the site only as “Rudd Ave”.
The Independent sought the actual address, which turned out to be 1 Rudd Ave, which backs onto 2-4 Geelong Rd.
As such, Torquay’s new ALDI will front Torquay’s pub bottleshop on one side and overlook the start of the Geat Ocean Road on the other.
No wonder ALDI wants residents to contact council “to express their support”.

UNDER a barrage of questions at one of the longer of his weekly media conferences on Wednesday, Cats coach Chris Scott did what most of us have done.
Answering a question about venues, he called Simonds Stadium by its previous moniker, Skilled.
But he pulled himself up straight away.
“Did I say Skilled? I’ll say Simonds five more times to make up for it.”
K-Rock footy caller Tom King helped Scott out with the very next question.
“What’s your home ground called again Chris?”
“Simonds,” Scott replied with a rueful smile.
