PROFESSIONAL surfers have begun arriving at Bells Beach as Easter’s Rip Curl Pro faces forecasts of a wipe-out.
Reigning world champion Gabriel Medina was among famous faces surfing Bells this week in preparation for the event.
Medina and other professionals enjoyed clean surf of around one to 1.5 metres.
But the outlook for surf looks ominous, with forecasters warning a blocking high pressure system could flatten the waves and produce unfavourable winds over Easter.
The conditions could force organisers to use the event’s extended waiting period for surf or move further down the coast to find waves.
