Ray Black wrote that Geelong’s seawater level was seven metres above present levels in the last interglacial warm period (Letters, 13 February).
It must have been pretty hot, with ice sheets melting and glaciers disappearing. All this happened before man had started putting carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.
But did Earth self-destruct in a fiery catastrophic barbecue that destroyed all life? Apparently not, it just recovered as it always has.
Climate change is normal but we are told the .4C warming from 1970 to 1998 will lead to a catastrophic end to life on Earth. No wonder people are sceptical.

Catastrophic warmists want to stop atmospheric temperatures rising over 2C by the end of the century, but why are they so sure the temperatures will start rising again and when will it begin?
I only used the term ‘catastrophic warmists’ as a comeback on those who try to suppress free debate and label climate sceptics ‘deniers’.
