Police plea on CBD assault

POLICE are appealing for information following an assault in Geelong last weekend.

A 19-year-old Bell Park man was sitting with a male friend outside a convenience store on Moorabool Street on Saturday morning.

A vehicle pulled up around the corner on Little Malop Street shortly after 5.05am and a man got out and approached the two men.

It’s believed there were several more people waiting in the vehicle, a red Holden wagon.

The man then kicked the Bell Park man in the face, causing significant facial injuries.

Two men and a woman also got out of the vehicle and watched on.

The victim’s friend attempted to talk to the man, however, he got back in the vehicle with the others and left the area.

The two groups were not known to each other, police said.

Geelong police are investigating and the man from the vehicle was described as Caucasian in appearance with a stocky build and fair or reddish hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark maroon t-shirt and black shorts.

Investigators have also released CCTV and images of a number of people they wish to speak to regarding the incident.
