Big cow pumps up river campaign

A giant inflatable cow has pumped up an environmental cause on the banks of the Barwon River in Geelong.
Environment Victoria used the blown-up bovine to promote its Cut the Crap campaign against the environmental damage livestock inflicts on the states rivers and creeks
Campaign manager Juliet Le Feuvre said grazing on riverbanks was “the number one manageable impact on river health in Victoria”.
“You wouldn’t expect to see cows grazing on the bank of the Barwon River in central Geelong. It’s a highly inappropriate place for a cow to be,” she said.
“Statewide, around 4500 tonnes of cow poo ends up in rivers and creeks every day.”
Ms Le Feuvre called for more fencing-off of riverbanks and for a ban of livestock on public land.
