GPAC tribute to Beatles anniversary

GEELONG will experience a flashback to the days of Beatlemania when the The Beatles 50th Celebration arrives in the city tonight.
The world’s premier Beatles tribute band, the Fabulous Beatle Boys, will deliver its acclaimed recreation of the Fab Four’s one and only tour of Australia.
The show at Geelong Performing Arts Centre will mark the 50th anniversary of the tour, which music historians and social commentators attributed with changing Australian social and cultural attitudes overnight while ushering in a new pop culture and fashions as boys started wearing their hair longer and girls’ skirts grew shorter.
Internationally recognised rock music guru and Beatles author Glenn A Baker said The Fabulous Beatle Boys impressed “with their deft grasp of the Fab Four’s entire span”.
“The identical song set, the outfits, the instruments and atmosphere will be faithfully recreated,” they said.
“Audiences will be encouraged to help recreate that atmosphere; to scream, shout and jump about. Well, maybe parents might leave that to their daughters and grandchildren.
“Whatever they decide, it is going to be huge fun and an experience to savour all over again.
“To increase the duration of the concert to today’s acceptable standards of length, the Fabulous Beatle Boys will also add the Beatles’ biggest and most loved hits but the original concert will be performed intact and as it was all those years ago.
“Audiences will experience the Beatles music and sound as it was all those years ago and how it might have been today had the Beatles still been together and using today’s sophisticated technology and equipment.”
The Fabulous Beatle Boys show begains 8pm.
