Egan claim
FORMER star Cat defender Matthew Egan has taken legal action over a foot injury that prematurely ended his career.
Egan sought damages and costs against Cats sports medicine physician Dr Chris Bradshaw and orthopaedic surgeon Mark Blackney for allegedly negligent treatment of a navicular stress fracture.
Hospital renamed
UNIVERSITY Hospital Geelong has been officially adopted as the new name for the city’s public hospital.
Barwon Health said the rebranding reflected its “growing and continued collaboration” with Deakin University.
Crash works
A $6.9 MILLION safety upgrade will help prevent “run-off road crashes” between Moolap and Drysdale, State Government has announced.
MP David Koch said the money would pay for 30km of wire rope barriers and six of guard fencing along Geelong-Portarlington Rd.
Richards refused
GEELONG has been left without a representative on a new body overseeing the region’s waste management.
A report to Geelong’s council this week said Victoria’s Environment and Climate Change Minister had refused the nomination of Labor candidate Andy Richards to the board of the new group, whose management area stretches from Geelong to the South Australia border.
Blue river
A BLUE tinge has appeared in Anglesea River after recent rain, according to authorities.
They advised against contact with the water or eating fish from the river after acidic soils washed into the waterway, affecting its colour.
