Cats reach 40,000, set target of 46,000

THE Cats have set a lofty target of 46,000 members in the next three years after this week breaking the 40,000 mark for the first time.
Geelong signed up its 40,001st member last Friday to achieve its membership goal for 2010.
Club acting chief executive officer Rob Threlfall was thrilled.
“The first thing (to say) is obvious and that is to say thank you to all of our supporters that are on board as members,” Threlfall said.
“Without our supporters and members the club would not exist. When you consider that as recently as 2004 we had just over 25,000 members, this increase has been an incredible achievement.
“Our team has been outstanding over the past four years and the on-field success we have enjoyed has been a catalyst to encourage our supporters to join up. We have also seen our facilities improve dramatically with two redevelopments at Skilled Stadium over that period that has also allowed members to watch games in greater comfort.”
Threlfall said the Cats had now set their target on further membership records.
“We expect to see continued growth in membership and our goal is to reach at least 46,000 by 2013,” he said.
“There has never been a better time to be a member and we encourage all supporters that can sign up to do so.”
Threlfall encouraged fans considering becoming members to sign off before the 2010 cut-off date next Wednesday.
“There are still seats available to members for the remaining home-and-away games and (remember) that only members will have access to grand final seats by way of a ballot if we are fortunate to make it again,” he said.
