$1.5 million building for Latrobe Tce

By JOHN VAN KLAVEREN

A $1.5 MILLION apartment and office complex has been proposed for Geelong’s high-profile intersection of Latrobe Tce and West Fyans St.
The three-storey proposal includes 21 apartments and a basement car park with 28 spaces.
The man behind the project is Peter Desbrowe-Annear, whose Geelong Finance Company is the site’s existing tenant.
Mr Desbrowe-Annear said he hoped the project would help dispel some of the jobs “gloom and doom around at the moment”.
“It’s something positive, something moving forward and I think it will smarten up the immediate area.
“I’ve spoken to all my neighbours are they’re enthusiastic about the project. This corner has been the missing link in this area for a while.”
Mr Desbrowe-Annear said he had been considering developing the site for years but took time to come up with the most suitable concept.
The complex has five ground floor units along with office space, 10 first-floor units and six on the top storey, with a mix of one and two-bedroom formats.
“It’s a good spot, with the pub (Lord of the Isles) across the road, close the river and Kardinia Park.”
