Our Brendan missing ‘sweetheart’

DRYSDALE’s Brendan Fox is living a lifelong dream as an army “termite” in the Middle East.
Deployed to Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates as an army cargo specialist, Pt Fox, 28, said he was proud to be a part of a large team supporting 400 remaining personnel in Afghanistan.
“This is my first deployment overseas and I haven’t forgotten the first time I walked off the plane and realised that I finally got the chance to be here.
“That feeling is always offset by missing my wife Danielle and also missing my daughter Isabella Fox – she’s in grade two at Clifton Spring Primary School. Hi from dad, sweetheart, I love you.
“I’ll still be here this Anzac Day, so I’m sure this year’s dawn service will be one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
“It’s a proud moment of your life to deploy on operations. My job is a specialist trade and we play a number of roles across the defence force, which includes being posted to Navy ships.
“Here in theatre, we coordinate, pack and secure the cargo for transport by Royal Australian Air Force flights into Afghanistan or other destinations in the Middle East area of operations as required.”
A Drysdale Football Club player, Pt Fox worked as a plasterer, a tyre fitter and a truck driver before coming back to the Army.
“I originally joined the army in 2007 and left in 2011. I spent 14 months out and realised I missed it and re-enlisted.
“I no longer live in Drysdale but I love getting back there to see my daughter and my family and would love to go and see the mighty Geelong Cats play footy again.
“There was always something to do when we were growing up and we had endless places to ride our bikes and kick the footy. The thing I’ll remember most is going to AusKick every Sunday with my father, Greg.”
