Enright injury concerns Cats

AN ANKLE injury to Cats star Corey Enright is “a bit more serious than we’d like”, according to coach Chris Scott.
Enright was subbed off late in the third quarter of the 25-point victory after twisting his right ankle awkwardly in a Jordan Lisle tackle.
Scott revealed his concern to the Cats’ website without revealing the severity of the injury.
Scott also brushed aside the supposed disadvantage of six-day breaks as a “furphy.
He said his team would have no excuses if it lost against Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday night after playing Brisbane at the Gabba on Sunday.
“The fixture comes out in late October. We have been preparing for this week and next week since then,” he told the Cats website.
“We went in with our eyes open and we’ve made some plans to mitigate the difficult of that.
“I think the six-day break is a furphy. You don’t want to have to do it week after week, they were difficult conditions and yeah, we’ve got to travel, but boohoo, two hours back to Melbourne.
“It might be a one percenter, if that. We will be well and truly prepared.
“If we get beaten by Collingwood next week, I give you my word, I won’t sit here and bemoan the fixture.”
Scott, who played 14 seasons with Brisbane, said the Cats had anticipated the humid and slippery conditions at the Gabba and prepared accordingly.
He praised Steve Johnson and 200-gamer Andrew Mackie for their contributions.
“We were prepared for difficult conditions irrespective of the slipperiness of the ball. I thought we adapted to the conditions well. It wasn’t the prettiest game of football of all time.
“In some ways it’s the side that adapts quickest that prevails and I thought that was a big part of it tonight.”
