Gordon TAFE unveils new library, revised brand image

Cutting edge technology, funky furniture and striking geometrical design wowed staff and students this week at the launch of a new library for Geelong’s TAFE college.
A Gordon Institute of TAFE spokesperson said the new library was part of a $3.9 million upgrade to meet increasing student demand at Gordon’s East Geelong Campus.
The official opening on Wednesday revealed state-of-the-art features including a self-checkout facility and a radio frequency identification device (RFID) for library data storage and transfer.
The locally developed RFID was the first of its kind installed in a Victorian TAFE.
The system will speed up library transactions for staff and borrowers, including check out, check in, returns, on hold items, stock-take and daily shelf management.
The Gordon has also developed a new brand image, which was set to be unveiled the day after the library opening as part of a new “strategic direction” for the institute.
