Lara’s Rob Anderson and sons Levi and Cody have been around music since they were kids, although a generation apart.
Rob was playing clarinet at age nine, Levi started learning guitar at eight and Cody began classical piano under the guidance of his mum at the same age.
Rob and Levi strummed guitars for their first gig together in front of an audience of grape pickers in Mildura.
Soon after Cody joined and the Anderson act became a trio.
The Andersons now perform locally as regulars at Beav’s Bar and have also performed at Minya Winery and during Lara Food and Wine Festival.
Rob, Levi and Cody will be guest artists at the Powercor Star Search’s grand final on May 29.
“We’re really looking forward to being on the big stage at Costa Hall and seeing the local talent,” Rob said.
“We’re also a bit nervous about being shown up.”
Star Search vocal auditions will start 7pm on May 4 at St Lukes Church, Barrabool Road, Highton, before instrumental auditions on May 11.
Organisers said young performers keen to audition could enter at www.starsearch.net.au or seek further information by emailing powercorstarsearch@gmail.com.
The winning vocalist and instrumentalists in each category will walk away with $1000.
Second and third place will earn $500 and $300 respectively.
Star Search also has prizes for reaching the grand final, for “promising performers” and for the overall winner in each category.
Audience tickets cost $20 for individuals, $15 for concession card holders and $55 for a family. Tickets are available from Geelong Performing Arts Centre.
