Danielle surprises in MKR ‘crash’

By NOEL MURPHY

DANIELLE Najda’s tiramisu has a definite earthy camouflage aspect. Just ask My Kitchen Rules.
The Seven Network’s runaway culinary prime-time hit had the former Sacred Heart College student and partner Josh Geard serving up their tiramisu in a clay pot complete with chocolate “soil”, mint and basil.
It looked like it was pulled from the garden, not the kitchen.
Danielle, who hails from North Geelong, was a gatecrasher on the program this week when she and Josh whipped up some offbeat surprise dishes.
“Our style is mostly experimental cooking – putting together weird and wacky flavours,” Danielle told the Independent.
“Cooking’s predominantly Josh’s passion – his main idol is Heston Blumenthal. We’ve watched a lot of his shows and read a lot of his cookbooks – it’s nice to surprise people at the dinner table.”
Danielle’s worked on her cooking skills since childhood with the help of mum Mercedes.
As gatecrashers on MKR Danielle and Josh were thrown straight in the deep end.
“I don’t think you should apply for a show like this if you’re not good with surprises on the spot and with pressure,” she said.
Danielle, who lives in Richmond but returns to Geelong fortnightly, said she and Josh worked in pharmaceutical sales but dreamed of an enterprise in the culinary field.
“That’s definitely a passion we share.”
