Growth fund submissions call

FUNDING: Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson .

Geelong submissions are being sought to a review panel helping determine the design of the Federal Government’s $100 million growth fund.

Federal Member for Corangamite, Sarah Henderson MP, announced she will sit on the panel, with senior government ministers and business leaders.

“I am delighted to be joining the Victorian panel and I am very hopeful there will be strong Geelong and Corangamite voices at the table,” Ms Henderson said.

“The review and the growth fund will help guide Australia, including Geelong and Corangamite, into a new era of manufacturing and competitiveness,” she said.

Federal Minister for Industry, Ian Macfarlane, will chair the panel when it meets in Melbourne on 22 January.

Ms Henderson called for local submissions to the review.

“Our review and growth fund can play an important role in helping local businesses position themselves for future success,” Ms Henderson said.

“With the demise of Ford’s manufacturing operations in 2016 and a black cloud hanging over Alcoa’s Point Henry smelter, we are facing very challenging times,” she said.

“For these reasons, I strongly encourage businesses and community leaders across Corangamite and the Greater Geelong region to make submissions to the review.

“The submission process is an important opportunity for our community to have a say on this significant jobs package for our region.”
