Taxes go to beer at Forrest

IT’S a case of money for beer deep in the Otways where Canberra is stumping up $110,000 to help the Forrest Brewing Company set up a new brewery.
The cash will go towards expanded facilities, enabling the brewer to make more craft beer, relocate its restaurant, build self-contained units and develop an events centre.
The taxes-for-beer handout is all part of a Federal Government scheme to boost the “quality of the visitor experience in Australia”.
Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson announced the grant, saying expanding the Forrest Brewing Company would “be great for Forrest”, create jobs and contribute to the local economy.
“Forrest is becoming a much-loved tourism destination in its own right, and the expansion of the town’s brewery will help meet the increasing demand for accommodation and top-quality food and drink,” she said.
“This funding will allow the Forrest Brewing Company to identify and evaluate options to expand and relocate to The Old Forrest Mill site in Station Street.”
