CORIO MP Richard Marles has made an impassioned plea for the ALP to drop its previous leadership baggage and back Bill Shorten as its federal leader over Anthony Albanese.
“He’s a very effective communicator and politician and he’s already made a great difference for our country and could do so as our leader,” Mr Marles said.
“I’ve known Bill a very long time and I absolutely know what he’d bring to this job … he’d be very good.”
Mr Marles said Mr Shorten’s role in bringing DisabilityCare’s headquarters to Geelong was one of the signature achievements of Labor’s six years in office.
