Ford cooking up new ingredients

DANDELIONS, coconuts, corn, soybean oil and sweet potato might be the makings of a tasty kitchen creation but they might also be ingredients of Ford cars in the future.
Eco-conscious auto-making has moved beyond cutting emissions, with Ford looking to culinary components for all manner of car parts.
The Geelong manufacturer’s US mother company this week Tweeted about its consideration of coconuts and dandelions as materials.
Other potential initiatives were sweet potato for map pockets, corn for armrest handles and soybean oil for headrests.
Ford also used Earth Week to point out its new Fusion used recycled denim, about two pairs of jeans, to dampen noise.
The new Fusion also used cloth-seats made of 39 clear 16-ounce recycled plastic bottles.
Ford also released a blog of a recipe with ingredients used in its cars: Thai curry corn and sweet potato bisque with crab and dandelion pesto.
