Cops in hunt for ‘serial flasher’

Alex de Vos
A “serial flasher” is masturbating in front of passers by at Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads beaches, police have warned.
Bellarine Police Acting Sergeant John Dunstan said witnesses had reported the man “wilfully” exposing his genitals, “masquerading while jogging” and masturbating in front of beachgoers on Monday at about 1.30pm.
“This is the third report of flashing this week and the sixth for the year,” Sgt Dunstan said.
“We believe the flasher is the same male each time.”
Police described the male as being in his late 20s to early 30s, about 183 centimetres tall with an athletic, solid build and sandy-coloured hair.
Police urged witnesses and victims to come forward immediately if they had any information.
“Unfortunately, people wait several hours before they ring police to report a flashing and it makes it hard for us to target,” Sgt Dunstan said.
He considered it unusual for the peninsula to have an “influx of this activity” so early in the year.
“But it’s been a warm spring, so it’s certainly started to increase,” Sgt Dunstan said.
