Entries have opened for a golf day to raise money for the region’s largest aged care and rehabilitation centre.
Competitors in the Independent’s 14th annual McKellar Centre Charity Golf Day will help the Barwon Health facility fund a new outdoor area.
The centre’s Town Square will include landscaping and an amphitheatre where aged residents and patients can enjoy entertainment and activities in the sunshine.
The golf day has raised more than $330,000 for the centre over past 13 years.
Independent managing editor Tony Galpin urged golfers to enter.
“The McKellar Centre is so big and important that it’s likely everyone in the Geelong region will have family members who need its services at some point in their lives,” he said.
The ambrose golf day begins 8am on March 20 before lunch and a fundraising auction at 13th Beach Golf Links. Entry costs $125 a head.
“Various corporate options such as hole sponsorships are available for local businesses to show their support for the McKellar Centre,” Mr Galpin said.
Other sponsors include Welshkline Financial Group and AMP Foundation.
Mr Galpin asked anyone wanting to enter or sponsor the event to contact the McKellar Centre’s Kerry O’Sullivan on 5279 2222, email kerryo@barwonhealth.org.au, or Welshkline’s Bernadette Kline, 5229 5900, bernad-ette.kline@welshkline.com.au.
