Police have busted an amphetamine laboratory at Lorne.
Geelong Regional Response Unit Senior Constable Matt Plunkett said discovering a drug lab in a town the size of Lorne was “surprising”.
He said the discovery highlighted the importance of vigilance even in small communities to detect illegal drug activity.
“This is a reminder to everyone to look out of the signs such as covered windows, suspicious activity and the smell of chemicals,” Snr Const Plunkett said.
Police discovered a “large number” of chemicals and equipment for making amphetamines during a raid on a house in Deans Marsh Road.
The raid also uncovered a “lesser-sized hydroponic set-up” for growing cannabis plants and a small quantity of powder believed to be amphetamine, police said. Police arrested two 27-year-old men, from Lorne and Geelong, at the house.
Police also arrested a 26-year-old Lorne man in a second raid on a house in Lorne’s Polwarth Road.
