Job seekers and recruiters flocking to local website

Alex de Vos
More than 1100 job seekers have flocked to a new employment website dedicated to the Geelong region.
Recruitment agencies have praised geelongjobs.com.au, an online arm of Independent publisher Star News Group. The site focuses on local employment opportunities and services in contrast to other websites with national content.
Tracy The Placement People’s Jason Butcher called geelongjobs an “excellent resource for local job seekers”.
“Geelongjobs is a great, innovative concept that targets job seekers and recruitment agencies in the Geelong region,” Mr Butcher said.
Grundy Consulting Group’s John Grundy also gave geelongjobs a thumbs up.
“I use the website to ensure I get maximum exposure, especially in the Geelong region,” Mr Grundy said.
“It’s great to finally see a recruitment website dedicated to Geelong.”
Star News Group business development manager Richard Sherman was “thrilled” with the “overwhelming” responseto geelongjobs.
“The site has been online for four months and we’ve already got more than 1100 registered job seekers,” Mr Sherman said.
“New jobs are listed every week and updated on a regular basis.
“Job seekers from the Geelong region are embracing the site and are already reaping the benefits.”
