Eight new faces will compete for five places on the council of Victoria’s smallest municipality when residents vote in Borough of Queenscliffe next month.
Councillor Burgess was the only incumbent to nominate for the election.
John Doull will stand in City of Greater Geelong elections when he takes on incumbent Tom O’Connor and St Leonards’ Bob Hynes in Coryule ward.
The new candidates for the borough council were environmental lobbyists Deborah Brearley and David Mitchell, community advocates Graham Christie and Helene Butler, Greens member Lloyd Davies, Queenscliff Community Association secretary Chris Johnson, former national cricket administrator Bob Merriman and media businessman Allan Murphy.
