Gender equality in sport

The Bellarine community can nominate members of their local sporting clubs for an award promoting gender equality in sport.

This year’s Monica Hayes Award will celebrate women’s leadership in promoting gender equality in sport on the Northern Bellarine.

The award recognises the significant role that sport plays in community wellbeing and individual development while commemorating a decade since the death of community leader, activist and feminist Monica Hayes.

Portarlington, Drysdale, Clifton Springs, Curlewis, Indented Head, and St Leonards sporting clubs can nominate women whose actions motivate others to support changes that enhance gender equality for women and girls participating in sport.

Applications will remain open until 23 February, and the award will be presented at the Northern Bellarine International Women’s Day Celebration on 5 March.

People and sporting clubs can email northbellarineiwd@gmail.com for an award application form.
