International baseball stars arrive

Members of Korean Baseball Organisation (KBO) team KT Wiz have landed in Geelong for their 2026 summer training camp.

More than 80 players, coaching staff and team members from Korea have arrived, with the playing group to undergo a six-week intensive program delivered by the City of Greater Geelong and the Melbourne Aces, Geelong Baycats and East Belmont Saints baseball clubs.

KT Wiz players will also participate in a community day on Sunday 8 February, giving local baseball fans the opportunity to meet the Korean stars.

The Geelong Baseball Centre, which has recently received a series of major upgrades to its diamond one, will host the camp.

The club undertook a similar training camp in Geelong last summer, with nearly 90 KT Wiz members visiting and injecting $1.6 million into the local economy.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj said Geelong would once again embrace the KBO players.

“It’s fantastic to welcome back 80 players, coaches and staff to our region for the 2026 summer training camp,” he said.

“We hope that after another successful summer program, we’ll be able to enter into a more longer-term partnership with KT Wiz for training in Geelong.”
