One of Australia’s longest-running fun runs will again take place on the sands of the Bellarine.
The Rip to River features a 10km run and a 10km walk from Point Lonsdale to Ocean Grove, a 5km run at Ocean Grove main beach and Ripper Nipper Run.
The event is on Saturday 27 December.
It is Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club’s (OGSLSC) biggest fundraiser and each year about 1000 participants take to the pristine hard sand track.
Details are as follows although times could be earlier in the event of hot weather:
10km walk and 10km run – The walk starts at 9am and the run at 9.30am on the beach west of Point Lonsdale lighthouse. Check in and collect bib first at Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club (PLSLSC).
5km run and Ripper Nipper Fun Run – The 5km run starts at 9am and the nipper fun run at 9.30am at Ocean Grove main beach. Check in and collect bib first at OGSLSC.
Those who have registered online can collect bibs either from 4pm to 6pm on Friday 26 December at OGSLSC or or on the morning of the event from 7am at OGSLSC or PLSLSC depending on which event you are in.
Bring along your registration confirmation on your phone. It makes it easier to allocate your bib.
A bus will ferry 10km entrants back to PLSLSC (covered under entry fee) and will depart from Ocean Grove Main Beach at 11am and noon.
Bags can be labelled and left at PLSLSC and will be ferried to Ocean Grove main beach to be collected from the barbecue tent.
