Star midfielder Georgie Prespakis won her second Geelong AFLW best and fairest in three seasons
Prespakis polled 185 votes to top the leaderboard at Geelong’s vote count on Saturday night, finishing clear of Nina Morrison in second place (110 votes) and Mikayla Bowen in third (76).
Prespakis was exceptional through the midfield in 2025, averaging a career-high 25.8 disposals and 6.8 clearances per game, while also averaging career-high numbers in inside 50s, contested possessions and score involvements.
Her consistency across the season was outstanding, accumulating 23 disposals or more in 10 of the Cats’ 12 games, while leading the AFLW for total clearances.
Morrison recorded another strong result, backing up her 2024 best and fairest win.
The tough midfielder averaged 20.3 disposals and 2.7 clearances per game and registered three score involvements each outing while kicking six goals of her own.
It marks a fourth consecutive podium finish for Morrison following on from her win in 2024 and high finishes in 2023 (runner-up) and 2022 (third).
Bowen’s breakout season was recognised with the 24-year-old finishing in third position on 76 votes.
Another Cat who was consistently among the best players on the ground each week, Bowen averaged career highs in disposals, tackles, intercept possessions and score involvements, while still impacting the scoreboard with six goals for the season.
Becky Webster polled 54 votes to finish in fourth position while Jackie Parry rounded out the top five with 51.
Kate Darby was named the Geelong Cats AFLW Carter Family Community Champion for the fifth time in recognition of her remarkable commitment to the community. Darby previously won the award in 2019, 2023, 2024 and was joint-winner alongside Georgie Rankin in 2022.
Retiring great Meghan McDonald received the values-based Hoops Award, capping off her legacy as Geelong’s longest-serving AFLW captain. The Hoops Award is voted on by players at the conclusion of the season, recognising the player who best demonstrates care for her teammates’ wellbeing, champions the club’s and team’s values, works for the greater good of the club, and positively engages in all aspects of the AFLW program.
