Bellarine boaters will enjoy improved experiences in and around the water thanks to new access upgrades and structural works.
Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee will receive close to $39,000 through the state government’s Structural Maintenance Grants Program to upgrade the Indented Head and Steels Rock boat ramps.
Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant said the funding would help replace jetty ladders at Indented Head and improve surfacing and drainage at Steeles Rock.
“These works will make a real difference for local anglers, families and visitors, improving access, safety and enjoyment every time they head out on the water,” she said.
The Clifton Springs boat ramp and Portarlington’s Point Richards Boat Ramp were also among six projects that would share more than $500,000 through the Dredging and Access Grants Program.
Minister for Outdoor Recreation Steve Dimopoulos said the facilities were important for tourism and regional communities.
“We’re proud to support local communities with projects that make boating safer, easier and more enjoyable for Victorians,” he said.
“The upgrades will create better access, smoother launches and a better experience on the water with family and friends, which is exactly what boating in Victoria is all about.”
Eighty-five projects have shared in more than $6.7 million in funding since 2021-2022 to ensure dredging and maintenance can be carried out.
Ramp upgrades were also planned for Geelong’s Limeburners Point, and people can visit betterboating.vic.gov.au to learn more about boating upgrades across the state.
