Providing a quick response

Quick Response Grants are now open for Surf Coast groups to continue making a positive difference within their community.

Surf Coast Shire’s program reopened on July 1 for groups and organisations to apply for up to $3000 to make minor equipment purchases, expand activities and help communities thrive.

Winchelsea Playgroup received a grant last year to purchase indoor play equipment. Volunteer Bec Lane said she encouraged everyone to consider applying.

“(The indoor play equipment) has seven or eight large pieces of soft play which can be put together in different configurations,” she said.

“It means the children can still burn energy with some climbing and fun indoors when it is inclement outside, and we wouldn’t have been able to purchase it without the grant.

“The application was really straightforward. I’ve done lots of grant applications and what stood out to me with this one was the really quick response, it definitely lived up to its title.”

Councillor Tony Phelps said the grants program would remain open until the allocation pool of $30,000 was exhausted, with grants awarded on a monthly basis.

“We appreciate that finding funds for things like equipment purchases or new projects can be a huge challenge,” he said.

“These grants offer meaningful support in quick turnaround time and can have such significant impact for organisations that are making positive differences in our community.”
