Accessibility boost for Northern Bay

A local school will get a big funding boost to upgrade facilities and improve access for all students.

Member for Lara Ella George announced last Friday Northern Bay College would receive more than $829,454.94 to rebuild and complete works on ramps across its five campuses in Corio and Norlane.

“I’m delighted to see Northern Bay College share in funding to give our students top quality facilities for learning,” Ms George said

Northern Bay College principal Scott Diamond said the funding would build 18 new ramps, partially rebuild eight ramps and complete minor updates on five others, with the work likely taking place over the next 12 months.

“Northern Bay P-12 College is beyond grateful for the opportunity to provide a well-resourced learning environment which caters for the individuality of our young people, inclusive of all needs and requirements,” Mr Diamond said.

Northern Bay is one of 49 schools sharing in more than $17 million of funding through the current round of the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP), which enables high-priority work across Victorian government schools such as fixing roofs, replacing windows and resurfacing floors.

Including this round of funding, the state government program has funded $65.2 million worth of projects in 2025.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll said the Allan government was “constantly reviewing” schools to ensure they were “modern, safe and engaging”.

“From a fresh coat of paint in classrooms to ensuring crucial emergency shelters are in good condition, this latest maintenance blitz will ensure all Victorian students have safe and modern learning spaces,” he said.
