Council meet and greet returns

Community members will be able to meet and speak to their council members again ahead of this month’s council meeting.

The City of Greater Geelong is holding another ‘Meet Your Councillor’ event at council offices on April 22 after the success of the trial event in March.

The community can speak directly to councillors, raising issues of concern or asking questions without feeling the pressure of speaking in front of assembled councillors, City officers and both the live and online galleries at a formal council meeting.

As with last month’s event, topics on the council’s meeting agenda cannot be discussed by councillors.

Some councillors will not be present, but City officers will also be on hand to engage in discussion and provide information where possible.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj said the March session was beneficial to both the public and councillors.

“Providing the community with a direct channel to discuss concerns with their ward councillor is important, and this session offers a valuable opportunity for open dialogue,” Mayor Kontelj said.

“We were very pleased with the outcomes of our first Meet Your Councillor session and we are eager to continue these conversations prior to the April Council Meeting.”

The Meet Your Councillor session will be held in the foyer at Wurriki Nyal Civic Precinct between 4.45pm and 5.30pm on Tuesday, April 22.
