Surf Coast Shire is calling on its Anglesea and Winchelsea communities to help shape the future of their towns.
Anglesea residents will be able to support the development of a community plan to focus on priorities for the town and bring ideas to life over the next few years.
Surf Coast Shire mayor Mike Bodsworth said community planning brought people together while using their passion and “local knowledge to create a plan that will have a lasting impact”.
“We’d love to get input from as wide a range of people as possible, so the plan reflects the diversity of the community,” he said.
“Anglesea is a unique place, and people are passionate about its character and community… We can share perspectives on the future we want to create, and how to get there.”
Winchelsea residents are encouraged to help shape the town’s sustainable growth by creating a 30-member community group to nurture a Winchelsea Place Plan.
Mayor Bodsworth said the plan would clarify how growth will be managed in the town over the next 30 years and guide council on what was important to the community.
“We encourage community members to provide feedback about what they want for Winchelsea now and into the future,” he said.
“Winchelsea needs a planning approach that’s collaborative, reflects community aspirations and honours the place’s unique characteristics and heritage.”
