A bomb scare at Norlane on Tuesday morning led police to shut down a residential street as specialists detonated two suspicious devices.

Police called in the Bomb Response Squad and Arson Squad after officers located the suspect devices in a car they had just pulled over.

Officers intercepted the car at the corner of Rose Ave and Camellia Cres about 10.40am.

Police cordoned off Camellia Cres as a precaution before safety detonating the device.

They arrested the driver and sole occupant of the car, a 42-year-old Norlane man, who was in custody and assisting police with their inquiries that afternoon.

“There is no threat to the community and the investigation is ongoing,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
