Policeman ‘seriously injured’ at Mt Duneed

A policeman is seriously injured after a crash at Mount Duneed today.

“It is believed the member was standing next to a stationary marked police vehicle on the Surf Coast Highway, near Mount Duneed Road, when a vehicle crashed into his car shortly after 1pm,” Victoria Police said.

“The male officer sustained serious injuries as a result and has been taken to hospital.

The male driver of the vehicle has also been taken to hospital. The exact extent of his injures are not known at this early stage.

“Police were observing the vehicle prior to the crash in relation to an incident earlier today.”

Police closed part of the Surf Coast Highway between Mt Duneed and McCanns Rd, north of Torquay, after the crash.

Victoria Police urged anyone with information to come forward.
