Man charged over Point Lonsdale shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a shooting in Point Lonsdale this morning.

It’s understood a man attended a medical clinic on Nelson Road with a suspected gunshot wound about 10.30am on 11 December.

The 37-year-old Point Lonsdale man was airlifted to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police attended a property on Gill Road and arrested a 55-year-old Point Lonsdale man just before 11am.

He has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, reckless conduct endangering life, use unregistered firearm, use firearm in a dangerous manner, and use firearm in the commission of an offence.

He will face Geelong Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

It is understood the two men are known to one another, police said.
