A physiotherapist for 13 years, Leanne Scownd enjoys working with her patients to achieve the best possible outcomes, and keeping them active.
Based at Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Geelong, Leanne is an expert at dealing with persistent spinal pain and pelvic girdle pain.
“I’m happy to be able to be a leading hand on someone’s journey to recovery,” she said.
“Everybody is different, and every person is a different jigsaw puzzle that needs to be put together.”
Leanne has worked in private practice since graduating from The University of Melbourne, and has since completed a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy.
Further clinical interests include hip injuries, headache, dance medicine, joint hypermobility syndrome and associated pain conditions, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Her clinical sporting interests include swimming, running, diving, tennis, triathlon and the performance arts including musicians.
“Being a multidisciplinary clinic, if I don’t have the scope to deal with a person’s problem, there is always someone at the clinic to help. Essentially, we can put two or three heads together,” Leanne said.
After two years of studying engineering/science, Leanne was drawn towards the field of physiotherapy with an extensive sporting background growing up, and an ongoing love of sport and lifelong sports participation.
Away from work, Leanne is a mum of two boys and stays active through competing in open-water swim events and triathlons.
