Surdouble take webgeons visit
Specialist surgeons will travel to Geelong for operations on children, saving families trips to Melbourne, Health Minister David Davis has announced.
Mr Davis said the joint initiative of Barwon Health and Royal Children’s Hospital would treat about 200 young surgery patients a year from September.

Woman robbed
Police are hunting three youths who robbed a disabled woman on a motorised scooter at Corio.
Police said the 57-year-old woman hit them with her walking stick before they fled with a safety flag from her scooter last Friday.

Upgrade begins
A $50 million upgrade of the Great Ocean Road has begun, according to Vicroads.
Regional director William Tieppo said the first stage of the five-year project would focus on road resurfacing, bridge repairs and “geotechnical maintenance” including landslips between Anglesea and Allansford.

The $77 million Black Rock facility, which produces 140 tonnes of “biosolids” daily, won a water management category in the United Nationals Association of Australia awards.

Two “dangerous” road black-spots in Geelong will undergo safety improvements, Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson has announced.
She said the Abbott Government had allocated funding to upgrade Belmont’s Corio St between High St and the Princes Hwy and a roundabout at the intersection of Sparks Rd and Plume St, Norlane.
